Gnomecopters + My take on summoning mark 2

I took my turn at riding the gnomecopters (re: jet pack for those playing at home). Yeah, it's a blatant marketing ploy to convert F2P to P2P, but there are 3 cool things, too. The gnomecopters are located north of the Lumbridge mill inside the cow pen.

1. The gnomecopter shop which sells redberries, spinach rolls and chef's hats (take that, Scooby :P). No more getting scammed with the "rare" spinach roll and always have access to redberries and chef's hats.

Photobucket

2. The cut scenes

When I went, there were 2 guys telling people "they are fake" and "its not real". Duh! I recognized this guy from Animal Magnetism quest:

Photobucket

And here's a close up of RuneScape's most famous PKer:

Photobucket

It was a fun diversion.

I finally got 78 slayer at black demons. I only had 147 to kill, but I range them and it took over 5 hours. I used up 1 crystal bow and finished it with the bone crossbow, which is slow as a depressed sloth. The guys with cannons didn't help either. I ended up getting a portion of slayer exp by killing someone's leftovers. I really think cannons should only attack multiple enemies when they're working in a multi combat zone.

For anyone that cares, the zombies behind me are actually in the Entrana dungeon.

Photobucket

And now, the rest of summoning. Jagex finally released the rest of the summoned creatures that were previously reserved and we got to find out what those obsidian charms could do. I passed anything that might've helped me train and I have no desire to fight other players to kill any TzHaar. I will see how the charm rate is with the Dorgeshuun chests later, plus I have this cool idea to try out with beasts of burden but that'll have to wait until I can make war tortoises.

Oh, the Easter event is over. You can put your cape in your costume room or destroy it and sell off or drop all that chocolate dust that used to be chocolate eggs.

Hole in the ground

Mostly did slayer today and got myself under 15k to level 78. I got some good drops, too: 2 granite mauls, 2 dark mystic tops, 4 rune full helms and charms not gold. ;) Sold it all on GE. While I was crushing gargoyles with a rock hammers, I achieved 86 defense and 117 combat.

Photobucket

I ran into a funny assignment from Duradel. He's been giving me tons of gargoyles, bloodvelds and steel dragons, then out of the blue tells me to kill 44 molinisk. ??? If you think I can do it, bud. XD

So many charms and most were not gold, which gave me more gold charms to use to make barker toad pouches. All I have to do now is gather swamp toads. Soon I will be making war tortoises (*1 shard*)! After that, it's leveling toward making bunyips and fruit bats with green charms.

Photobucket

I should get a slayer level tomorrow, then I'll do a bit of hunting. I don't know after that, but maybe chain farm some toadflax or work on my mining.

93 farming this morning! Only 6 levels to go, which seems like not much, but I'm going the cheap route with fruit trees and herbs. I can only grow a max of 5 fruit trees a day (though I just do 4 and keep my papaya tree permanently in Lletya for pawya catching). I'm working on the 50 curry trees and 116 pineapple plants I have already banked. Farming isn't a skill you can power level; even with wood trees, you have to wait several hours.

I did things today :P

Photobucket

With a baby squirrel to raise, my choices of what to do were limited. I hunted for a bit (until my eyes got tired), then figured mining coal would be just as safe. As you can see, I achieved 81 mining. It was weird to be mining after not doing it for months (not mining coal for 2 years lol). I tried out the coal trucks since I'd never done it before, then moved back to the mining guild under Falador. I gave someone the spottier cape off my back; it was no big deal to me as I have plenty stocked up.

Eventually, my tiny nut thief grew into an intermediate nut thief and I named him Wildcard.
Photobucket

I put him safely out of reach of Slash and kitted out to kill more giant rock crabs. I thought I'd gathered enough charms for 66 summoning, but I hadn't. I returned to giant crabs until my deaths and minds were exhausted. I added up the figures and came up short of getting it tonight. I am so tired of terrorbirds and was hoping to avoid making them, but gold charms are all I have left. I'm going to hold off though and do some slayer Sunday to see what I get from that. Also, there's the "update" coming soon and there might be something worth waiting for there.

Nuts and may

I captured a baby squirrel today and have been raising it to adulthood most of the time. I feel weird taking a newborn pet along with me as I enchant air orbs, so I needed to find something non-dangerous to do. I'd bought 3400 mith ores last week when the price was 185 gp and proceeded to super heat them into mith bars. It didn't last long before sleep conked me out. I logged out and took a 4 hour nap.

Feeling refreshed, I went back to making mith bars but just smelted them at Edgeville. I made 123 mith plate mails and alched those. That done, I had to find something else to do while the baby nut thief got fat-happy on acorns. Sharks are back to a decent money-making price and I hit Catherby for some fishing. I got Niles asking me what this fish is in his hand and I tell him that yes, it's a fish. Apparently, he hates being told the truth. He noted my inventory and tele'd me to Lumby basement. WTF? Anyway, so I moved camp to the fishing guild which was ultra busy.

My squirrel is 50 grown. IRL I've been having urges for babies and raising a pet in RS really helped curb that. :P

Fail of Tarn Razorlor

Feeling confident, I wanted to kill Tarn Razorlor. I read some guides, found a map and watched a few videos on YouTube for getting through the trapped maze. I went with prayer boosting gear: full prostelyte, CoA, Sara book, holy symbol, barrows gloves, boots of lightness and dds. My inventory was 5 prayer pots (4) and 23 sharks. Okay, I go in with auto attack off and protect melee on and run for the door I'm supposed to enter. Going good, now in the room with the first log trap which I disarm and hop across the pillars. Third room is safe, so I turn off my prayer and take a moment to read up on where to go for the next 3-4 steps. I leave the safe room and end up in a big |__| shaped room. I run for the west side, avoiding traps and enter the west door. I appear next to the banker dude.

o_O

Um, no one mentioned going by the banker dude in any guide or video. I recheck the guide on Zybez about the |__| room:

"You will now find yourself in a long slender hallway with several staircases on the northern, eastern and western walls. Head to the westernmost section of the hallway and click the stairwell on the western side on the west wall."

Okay, I do that thinking I picked the wrong door or something. Lo and behold, I'm next to the banker. Enough. I go back to the start of the maze in the haunted mine, follow the guide to the |__| room, go through the west door on the west side and show up beside the fucking banker!

AAAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!!!!!

Screw it. I don't need the slayer exp or the enchanted salve amulet. I tele to my house and put away my armor, then tele to the GE and sell my sharks. May be I'll try again much later and have my husband help like he did with ME2.

I had a clue scroll from gargoyles. One thing I wanted to know is if I could get duplicate charts for TT. I have many spades, sextants and watches but only 1 chart. Well, I have I clue scroll and some time, so I head off the the observatory to talk to the professor. I drop my single chart and start badgering him for copies. He happily forks 4 more over and I am content. I do the emote clue at the lighthouse, dig at a house in Plague City and get a coordinate clue. I check up the coordinates and it's right behind the pirate hut. With a sigh, I drop the parchment to the ground and vent my frustrations on the wild jade vine. Either I'm getting better or it's getting wimpier.

Duradel finished off my crappy day with a task of 46 iron dragons. I usually Burthorpe metal dragons, but I'm wondering if I should at least try to kill some again. I did poorly many, many months ago.

Only a little 'Scaping

I only played a few hours of RS today. I just didn't have the oompah to chip away at hunter when what I really wanted to do was make pouches.

Lamenting about this to my husband, he urged me to take my time. "You've set to getting this goal within the year. There's no hurry, so just do little bits," he said and it made me feel better.

I took on a couple slayer tasks. I'm going to give Duradel a serious try out. I think I can take whatever he gives me or at least not Burthorpe as much as I do with Chaeldar. I'm ending today with 80+ gargoyles to kill. They were empty tonight and I seemed to be getting more charms (blues) than last time I was there.

Speaking of summoning, Jagex is pushing to the last minute their proposed update. I'm hoping it's the rest of the creatures we can summon (the "reserved" places). All I can say is it better not be just Bork dropping charms.

Ophidian Incubation

Photobucket

With Juna bumping me up to 62 summoning, I headed to the alternate Abyss to stock up on abyssal charms. It was a disappointment. With over 100 dead abyssal leeches, I had 1 abyssal charm. You'd think it'd be a little more common than that. -.- Well, that crosses off those pouches and puts my green charm useage back to ibis pouches. I took the charter boat to Oo'glog to buy raw bird meat - it's not the prices I hate, but the making of so many spirit terrorbirds ugh - then to Fally for a round of pouch making.
Photobucket
Photobucket

My charms are gone again, but I can make my own cocktrice eggs with the spirit cobra's Ophidian Incubation special. This is going to sound real newbie, but this is the first summoned creature that I've done a lot with. :) The incubation uses 1 scroll each time, so you'll need plenty of them (I used 350 scrolls). I bought out the eggs in the Culinomancer's chest (50 eggs @ 70 gp each), then teleported to a "quiet" bank to incubate my eggs. I wanted to avoid the repetitious "wat u doin" since summoned creatures are on a 3 minute timer.

So, I withdraw all the scrolls, a cobra pouch and 26 normal eggs. I summon the cobra and get cracking on incubating. The cobra has 60 special move points (just like your special attack bar with certain weapons) and it uses 3 points with each scroll. While waiting for the special bar to refill, I get curious and take out those colored bird eggs we've all gotten from woodcutting and/or Miscellania. I knew these eggs could be transformed into a -trice type egg which is the secondary ingredient in making the -trice variant pouches. What I really wanted to know is if these eggs were tradeable and for how much. I am such a greedy soul.

Here is where Bombaye1 is going to want to kill me. I -triced my raven egg into a coraxatrice egg. *hides*

Then I did the same with a penguin and vulture egg. When you're testing these things, you can't leave something out. :P Now, I've got these eggs and I tele to the GE. They all are tradeable and, thusly, sellable! And I sold them instantly, too! w00t! I saved 48 cockatrice eggs to make into summoning potions because I get this feeling there's going to be a quest where we have to summon a creature to help us fight.

Photobucket

The prices (average selling price):

cockatrice - 960
saratrice - 1,159
zamatrice - 1,278
guthatrice - 1,278
coraxatrice - 1,000
pengatrice - 1,050
vulatrice - 1,050

4 more levels

Photobucket
95 magic! The rock crab behind me whacked me just as I leveled on the one in the corner. Lol! :D

They found me

I did my farming runs and had an hour to kill before Arhein deigns to offer me 80 pieces of his precious stock of seaweed from the far shores of Karamja. *roll eyes* I decide to alch the 900+ summoning pouches I've got. Before that, I did try out the bloated leech and smoke devil summons at the SoPS (stronghold of player safety). The leech's special heals you and it attacks a bit. The smoke devil's attack hits multiple enemies. Neither did much damage that I could see.

Back to pouch alching in Catherby. One guy is asking me to look at the stuff he got woodcutting. Hey, if you got cool things that's great and all, but I don't want to look at them right now. I'm alching; I'm actively doing something that is visible to everyone else. Then comes the price checkers. They want you to trade them so they can see what an item is worth. There're like 5 other people in the bank. Why pick me to be the one? Try that guy with the cool woodcutting loot.

After running this gauntlet, I get my seaweed and sand and kit out for magic darting crabs. I'm lucky again with only myself in the giant rock crab cave for a long time. People are running by for Surok or fire giants or what-have-you and one guy started killing crabs, too. Then it's quiet again for a long time. Psycoduck4 slides down the rope from above and proceeds with the obligatory questions - mage lvl, rock crab drops, etc. I answer dutifully as I'm darting my heart out, but get twigged when he asks how much money I have.

Note: I'm pretty paranoid exchanging any sort of information in MMORPGs (mah more peh gahs if you want to just say it as a word :P), but I can understand just making chitchat.

I tell him I've got 5M in cash. He asks about the amount in items. Alarm bells are ringing in my head at this point and I make a guesstimate of 25M in items. Next he asks what I've got in my inventory (me: a couple thousand deaths and minds) and can I show him (me: no). There is one word being screamed in my brain: HACKER. And I mean that as someone who has access to a password cracker or a script kiddie. Psycoduck4 may be a guy who was just making conversation with me. I'm not accusing him of anything, but pointing out my interpretation and how I felt about his questions.

I stay in the tunnels long enough to get:

Photobucket

I tele back to Edgeville to bank everything before logging out to get lunch. Normally, I don't bank all my stuff, but I was edgy after that encounter with Psycoduck4. Bunnyboy529 decides to follow me around and tell me I'm ugly. I reply that I'm only taking after him as I cut some gems. Then he asks why I am black with white hair. Can you see the racist comment coming? Well, Bunnyboy529 didn't say anything outright reportable and left me alone because I wasn't rising to the bait. I did answer him with "Because I have black skin and white hair" and, within his earshot but after he quit trailing after me, "Stupid racists".

I wonder what this afternoon will hold? Hmmm.....

I was not myself today

After much poking and prodding, my husband logged onto RS to do the Easter event. I decided to log on with an old F2P account and do the event with him. While he waited for me to get to the bunny hole (he was there after the Christmas event lol), we talked over whether to run through the 2 strongholds as well. I told him there was good cash from both (20k which is $$$ to nubs like us XD). We played with our chocotrices and he patiently made eggs while I worked to get the bunny hop emote.

With that complete, we headed to the barbarian village for the stronghold of security. After a stop in Falador so he could set a bank pin, we walked over. By now I'm missing Kitt Fox and her high magic level. I looked on Sal's for maps to each of the stronghold levels so I knew where to run. We made it through and he only ate half an apple pie. He chose fighter boots, like me. :)

Now to the safety stronghold. We went to the basement, looked at the grub-thingies and went upstairs to take the test. Test complete and correct, we did a simultaneous Windows Security Check emote then talked to all the students. I used my 2 lamps on range and he used one on prayer which got him 35 combat and the other on mining. We went back into the basement and through the poster (hubby got the Shawshank Redemption reference; I've never seen the movie/read the book). I was surprised that none of the muggers or cockroaches were aggro'ed. We walked through the place and went up the rope in the lever room in order to be able to use the crevice, then wandered some more to find the chest. Hubby noted the gloves matched well with the fighter boots. Then we ran to Edgeville, loaded for range tanking and headed back to the safety stronghold. We discovered the cockroach workers are too fat the attack us through a doorway. :P

After an hour of playing, I logged off to go to the bathroom and he returned to Deus Ex. I returned to my fr00b with the determination of getting 40 range today. I got it shooting skeletons under Edgeville (thank you Simple). I got my first Prison Pete and Leo the Gravedigger random events, too! Playing on this account reminds me of how far I've come with Kitt Fox and how much I miss those quick levels up.

I been tagged!

I spent the day killing giant rock crabs in the chaos tunnels. I picked up over 700 charms (90% gold) and found a cool outfit to complement my woodcutting cape (full splitbark). Nothing exciting happened. I'm about 300k from 95 magic now. I got 2 summoning levels, too. I want to get 63 summon for the spirit cobra to convert all the bird eggs to something tradeable.

Photobucket
Photobucket

Next time I'm in the chaos tunnels, I'll try out the combat abilities of the smoke devil. I don't know if I should bother raising a squirrel. :/

I got tagged by a friend, so here's my tag.

5 Thing You Don't Know About Me:

2. I've never killed another player in RuneScape.
3. I've never been scammed.

Cat herding

Photobucket

Since I had pawya meat from yesterday, I figured I'd give a try at catching these guys. There are a few problems. Grenwalls are only found where pawyas are, which means grenwalls would rather catch, kill and eat fresh pawyas than old pawya steaks in a cardboard box. Oh and the silly things enjoy napping beside open, baited traps. Yeah, grenwalls are *so* like cats. -_- I did catch 6 or 7 grenwalls and got grenwall spikes (for making arrows according to the KB) and usually an herb.

After gaining that level, I meandered around to do something other than hunter. It's hard to train skills you don't like and I'm in a catch-22 situation. I prefer to get yucky things done first and quickly, but training hunter like I train skills I like is long and dreary.

I saw someone today at the GE. He's not the person shown, but on the bottom of the pile. I had my public chat off to ease the lag, so if you said hi to me and I didn't reply, that's why.

Yucky hunter

Determined to do some training today instead of slacking off and reading ebooks like yesterday, I swallowed the bile and went off reluctantly to smash kebbits with large rocks.

I used to like hunter, really. It began so innocently; so many creatures to stalk and kill meant so many ways to level, giving each person his/her own choice of what to do.Trapping colorful birds, smashing pixelated Nerds with rocks, boxing up ferrets, flushing rabbits, oh my it's glorious!

Within months, the Red Menace was thrust upon RuneScape. From the basic hunter skill guide to the power-leveling help desk tauted one way to gain level 99 and the coveted skill cape: red chinchompas. From RuneHQ to Rune Village, the advice is eerily similar: red chinchompas. Even in F2P, it is known to hunt red chinchompas.

What's so special about these things?

They explode.

Photobucket

(Yeah, that's all; they explode. What? You were expecting a song and dance maybe?)

I am the type of person who goes against convention; I don't do what everyone else does. There are alternatives to leveling hunter without falling prey to the Red Menace.

Blasphemer!

It will shock you this truth I tell, but it must be told - I waste more time searching for a place in the Feldip Hills a) with less than 2 people or b) no people to set up boxes for trapping red chins.

==========

All that aside, I don't like wasting time world hopping and fighting others just to train a skill. Oh and my larupia suit smells like wet dog. I realized that that stinky outfit is half the reason my hunter is dragging behind everything else. I set out this afternoon to answer 2 questions for myself:

1. What's the most efficient (as in most exp per hour) way to level up hunter?
2. Are those hunter outfits really necessary?

To answer the first, I picked out 3 things that I do like to do:
- falconry
- catching pawyas
- smashing kebbits with large rocks

Falconry

Since I can hunt the highest kebbit a falcon can catch (dashing kebbit), I concentrated on catching those critters. My first test was wearing full larupia, woodcutting cape and boots of lightness. My run is on. I dropped all the furs and buried all the bones (14 of each) during my 10 minute test timing. At the end of the time, I picked up any furs still visible, hunted until my inventory was full of furs and banked them to sell later.

Time: 10 minutes
Catching: dashing kebbits, level 69 hunter, 156 exp each
Amount caught: 42
Estimated catch per hour: 252
Estimated exp per hour: 39,312

For the second test, I removed the larupia which cut down my open inventory slots to 25. This meant I could only catch 12 dashing kebbits before having to drop furs and bury bones. Run is on.

Time: 10 minutes
Catching: dashing kebbits, level 69 hunter, 156 exp each
Amount caught: 36
Estimated catch per hour: 216
Estimated exp per hour: 33,696

I decided to make it fair and banked the larupia. All I can say about this is probably without the weight of the larupia, I had more energy. Run is on. With the ability to catch 14 dashing kebbits before dropping and burying, I came up with these numbers:

Time: 10 minutes
Catching: dashing kebbits, level 69 hunter, 156 exp each
Amount caught: 47
Estimated catch per hour: 282
Estimated exp per hour: 43,992

Conclusion: Doesn't look as though wearing hunter gear makes too much of a difference.

Deadfalls

I wore identical gear (full larupia, woodcutting cape, boots of lightness) and my run was always on for both tests. I hunted in the same spot.

Time: 10 minutes
Catching: prickly kebbits, level 37 hunter, 204 exp each
Amount caught: 20
Estimated catch per hour: 120
Estimated exp per hour: 24,480

Test two, I banked the larupia.

Time: 10 minutes
Catching: prickly kebbits, level 37 hunter, 204 exp each
Amount caught: 20
Estimated catch per hour: 120
Estimated exp per hour: 24,480

Conclusion: What I wore made no difference at all.

Box trapping

This is only the second time I've hunted pawyas. Pawyas are skittish and will back away from you if you're close to them. I made sure I kept at least 5 squares between myself and my traps. Baiting traps with papayas is required. The test is a bit odd; I counted the number of captured pawyas versus the amount of papayas used as bait.

I wore my larupia, woodcutting cape and boots of lightness. I hunted in a pawya-only area because grenwalls are rumored to eat pawyas while in your box trap.

Number of papayas: 16
Catching: pawyas, level 66 hunter, 400 exp each
Amount caught: 5

Second test, I banked the larupia.

Number of papayas: 16
Catching: pawyas, level 66 hunter, 400 exp each
Amount caught: 7

Conclusion: Again, it looks like not wearing hunter gear doesn't bother the hunted creature. I think the distance I was from the baited traps helped.

The best and quickest experience came from falconry. It takes about 20 seconds to send off your falcon, have it catch a kebbit and chase it down. I will say being close to the kebbit you're hunting makes a difference as to whether the falcon will catch it or not. Since 95% of hunter leveling is done at the Red Menace, the falconry area is clear and you should be able to hunt there alone.

Ok, maybe this makes no sense and you're just angrily telling your monitor that I'm an idiot for not following the Red Menace. Fine. Compare hunter to woodcutting. What's the best (as in fastest gain of exp per hour) method for leveling woodcutting? Willows and teaks, right? Now, put each hunter animal as a log from a tree:

Birds = regular logs
Butterflies and kebbits = oak logs
Falconry = willows or teaks
Salamanders = maple logs
Red chins = yews
Imps, pawyas and grenwalls = magic logs

What's the adage of woodcutting: cut willows for exp, cut yews for money. Same thing with hunter: falconry for exp, red chins for money.

Collision

As you know, I'm cutting teaks on Ape Atoll. For the past 2 days, random strangers have stopped and laughed at me. I don't get the joke. Is it my Karmaja monkey outfit? That I'm cutting teaks? What's so fucking funny people? I let it slide, but it builds up like the soap scum on the bath tub. Besiktasli9, as a bearded gorilla, stops by.

Besiktasli9: Lol
Me: What's so funny?
Besiktasli9: You
Besiktasli9: There r better places to cut
Me: Tai Bwo Wannai?
Besiktasli9: No
Me: CW?
Besiktasli9: Shilo
Besiktasli9: Khazardi jungle south
Me: (dumbfounded and speechless)
Besiktasli9: I'm trying to help u

I went there, to the Khazardi jungle and rechecked my memory on these teak trees. The best spot (compareable to AA) has 3 teaks in a 25' sq area (5x5) with a hungry, level 64 wolf close by to nibble on my ass. Oh yes, that's *so* much better than AA with 3 teaks in a 9' sq (3x3) and no enemies to attack me (plus lack of annoying random events except bird's nest).

You must have balls the size of watermelons to match that fat dickhead between your ears if you think for an instant that belittling a total stranger as way of an introduction will get me to follow your "advice". I wouldn't follow you out of a burning building after you shit on me like that. There's a special Hell reserved for people like you, Besiktasli9, (and Dawn Pope, that cunt whom I hope is blind from syphilis) and those who talk in the movie theatres.

I ran into Eman1051 last night. Not willingly, of course, he was walking by and gave the incredulous, "Kitt?!" like it's such a surprise. I said, "oh god" and hopped. I had the feeling he was going to Talk and that's something I avoid with ex-friends I now despise.

Got level 98 just after lunch and atm I've got just over 12M exp! It's looking really good for getting the cape by Wednesday. I'm going back on in an hour, so the number of teaks to 99 will be off slightly.

99: 12,086 teaks
15.5 hours to cape

Looking at the total hours, maybe Tuesday I'll be wearing another schmexy skill cape. :D

Great day but with a shot of idiot

I did great on carving off more exp - 515k today! Only 248k exp to level 98 and I'll definitely have that Saturday. :) I saw 6 people taking red chins into Zooknock's tunnel.

to 98: 2,844 teaks
to 99: 17,301 teaks
21.5 hours to skill cape schmexiness

During a run back to the Grand Tree bank, I ran into Weester8 who kept telling me to "die" and "begone".

Some progress

See that kid? He's from the classic film Village of the Damned and I was reminded of him after finishing up Kennith's Concerns. I found a wonderful video of how to get through the sneak puzzles on YouTube - thank you MrKalius for making that video and posting it! I originally thought the workers looked wherever their heads were facing. Well, they don't. On the last puzzle room, I noticed MrKalius' RS character stood next to the vent where the workers are even though the worker by the door looked right at him! When it dawned on me that I could wait and not be seen, it was easy-peasy. As for the quest, I wanted to either break Kennith's stupid toy train in front of him or stick the freakin' thing up his butt. Teeth gritted, I forked over the toy and appeased the little nutjob. Hope the psycho enjoys his stay on the fishing platform. -.-

Onto woodcutting news: I got about 350k exp today. I used one of my Karamja monkey greegree instead of the bearded gorilla from yesterday. There were people walking by me, but no one bothered me. I guess Karamja monkeys aren't worth talking to. I feel it's time for an estimate on getting the cape. I think I'll get 98 on Saturday and 99 on Wednesday, if weird things don't keep me off the computer.

98: 8,909 teaks
99: 23,366 teaks
28.84 hours to skill cape

Under the wire

Barely made the level before midnight. Phew! I had about 532k exp to go to 97 and I wanted to get it, so I pushed myself. My eyes are itchy for it. :) I saw more monkeys cutting teaks today than doing Monkey Madness. Weird things were happening to me. I'd randomly stop woodcutting for no reason.

Creepy day

97: 6,592 teaks
99: 34,143 teaks
42.15 hours to skill cape

I walked through the Stronghold of Safety today. It was easy for me, but probably harder for lower levels with the roaches attacking. I found the "secret" lever and the "secret" chest and got 10k gold plus a pair of gloves which look like cesti to me. I have a deep hatred of hard-shelled insects, roaches in particular, so this turned out to be icky for me (especially the level 83 roaches).

I also tried the new quest, Kennith's Concerns. I'm stuck on the I think last puzzle room (2 miners and 3 watchers with a bottleneck). Normally, I like these kinds of sneaky puzzles, but that last room pissed me off. There seems to be too many things to keep watch on, especially the 3 watchers. I'm praying when a guide is published, it gives hints on when to run/where to hide. Oh and I better have my progress saved in that damn bug mine. I really don't want to go through the other 2 puzzle rooms again.

Kennith and Kimberly are extremely scary. It's the way they're drawn as apposed to the way they act (I do want to slap Kennith around though).

Dropping

Photobucket
I've gotten pretty good at dropping teaks at a quick rate. I tried turning off 2 button mouse in Options, which was great for dropping, but sucked for clicking on everything else. Though I haven't tested this enough to positively say, so far the only random event I've gotten on Ape Atoll is bird nest. It may be influenced by being in monkey/ape form.

97: 11,859 teaks 14.6 hours
99: 39,409 teaks 48.65 hours
200k exp per day takes around 3 hours for teaks

For those who think I'm cold-hearted, I blessed someone's gravestone last night. I was running through the small troll encampment on my way to My Arm's herb patch and noticed someone on a clue scroll (the coordinate one by Mushroom). The dude was bad off and I watched him die to the Sara wizards. I did contemplate waiting the grave timer out and looting, but I decided against it and blessed the stone. I planted my herbs and came back to get the dude's name with the intention of PMing him to say I'd blessed his grave when I see he's back. He won the second match. Hope he got something great for the clue.

Goddammit!

Daylight Savings Time went into affect last night/this morning and it's fucked up my RS schedule! Everything on a timer is by Greenwich Mean Time instead of my local time, so it's all 1 hour off! My trees aren't grown and, worse, Arhien - that shopkeep in Catherby - won't sell me my papples and seaweed. It's all got to be put off for a whole day because "King" George the Asshat power abused DST ahead by 2 weeks. Dick.

I could skip it

There's not much to post about. I cut a couple thousand maple logs and ran a lot. Quite boring, though I'm not bored of cutting maples (yet). Actually, I did accomplish 2 things today: I farmed all my willow and maple trees! I have 4 yew trees sitting in pots and 4 growing in plots and that's all the wood trees for farming until I collect from the kingdom.

Somehow I managed to do something really cool with my woodcutting exp. I used 2 books of knowledge on it and combined with the willows, I got an even 00 to end my exp left to gain total (377,300). It makes it so much easier to figure out how many maples left to cut. :P

Level 96: 3,773 maples
Level 99: 37,272 maples

An odd thing from tonight - I banked logs and decided to eat a strange fruit for the energy boost. When I looked at the chat window, this is what I saw:

A crabby reward

Yay for me!

96 - 9,059 maples
99 - 42,558 maples

If I only cut 200k exp worth of maples a day, it'll take 21 days to get the cape. 200k exp is a goal each day and I do get more than that, chipping away at what I have to do tomorrow.

To celebrate, I went hunting for prickly kebbits. I discovered that you can use a chisel on the kebbit spikes to get bolts and those stack which makes room and means fewer banking trips. Even though I can hunt red chinchompas, I don't, unless I'm in a crazy mood. Red chin areas are always packed with other hunters. I still haven't wrapped my head around why these are the fastest method to get 99 with everyone and their dog/cat/raven/squirrel/etc. setting up 5 boxes in the patented X formation. Maybe because it's been a long time since I went hunting, but it seemed to pass quickly and I got 76 hunter. I sold the bolts on the GE, but I think the spikes would've sold faster.

Photobucket
An unexpected level today was 92 farming. I'd planned to get it tomorrow, but I'd forgotten how much check health exp a palm tree gives out.

It's time I had some wacky fun.

I bought a set of blue mystic, an ancient staff and runes for ice barrage. I wanted to see how bad-ass this spell is on enemies. I'd heard a lot about it, especially with CW and rock crabs. It's like the holy grail of magic spells and I wanted to know if it was a grail or just a wooden cup.

Yes, I willingly went into the Wilderness with valuable stuffsies! :o Full mystic, ancient staff, glory, Sara book, thieving cape, 100 ice barrage runes, 10 monkfish, 3 prayer pots and a home tele tab (my quick escape) were either on my person or clunking in my pack as I skipped over the ditch and ran for the rope going into a hole. A warning popped up: This is a dangerous area and you could be killed. Do you want to continue? Fuck yeah, now let me down the rope before a dark beast ghost attacks me.

Ah, the giant rock crabs of myth and legend ... and I was all alone! Mwuhahahaha!!1!!!1! >:) I set ice barrage to auto cast and started waking up "boulders". There a bit hard to wrangle into a pair or group (like cats), but I mostly got to ice cube 2-3 crabs at a time. They dropped stuff I wasn't sure about, like rock shells, rock splinters and rock shell boots, but I picked up everything. Yes, they do drop 10 charms at once. Not always, but often enough to make it worth killing them. I'd run out of deaths and bloods quickly and I wanted more. Now I'm *wanting* to face Death repeatedly just to kill crabs.

I went to Edgeville and bought more runes on the GE, then ran to Aubry's shop for water runes. The money I'd made alching 228 ait battlestaves went to getting runes. I returned to the chaos tunnels and began rounding up crabs so I could freeze their shells off. I left only because my pack was full of things I didn't want to drop and I was out of food. Here's me making crab ice cubes (there're 2 crabs in one spot):

Photobucket

I collected 90 gold, 20 crimson and 10 blue charms. Looks like slayer will be put off again. :P I teled back to Edgeville and used the fairy rings to get to Piscatoris to make some pouches. Thanks to Juna, I'd gotten within 3k of 58 summoning and wanted to get the level. I made karamthulu overlord pouches, then used up the crimson charms on bloated leeches. I didn't get a combat level.

Photobucket

Okay, with that fun over, I threw on my desert robes and used the fairy rings to get to Nardah. I prefer being on regular magic most of the time, so now I need to pray at the ancient altar to swap spell books. I could use one of my Pharaoh's sceptres, but I find it's a waste of space to have 1 empty (because I couldn't remember which pyramid was which; the first is Plunder, second is Simon/agility and third is ancient XD), 1 with 2 charges and 1 with full charges. While I was in the desert, it wouldn't hurt to make a quick run through PP to get artifacts for recharging the sceptre. Being in PP doesn't scare me anymore; I guess I've gotten over the days I spent running through the place. I got my plundering gear (spottier cape, boots of lightness, holy symbol, prayer book from Great Brain Robbery and 10 monks) and began looking for the right door. I started with the southern door and found the mummy immediately. Ran through to the last room and looted the urns. I'm real close to running out of time and there're still 4 urns to loot. Out of, idk call it Pavlovian response, I click to check the golden chest with seconds left on my timer. I find myself outside with a message so unexpected I lol'ed IRL:

No dead people today

AFAIK, no one important to me has died today. This will be an actual post with *content*instead of a link to a news service.

I've whittled myself down to 200k exp to 95 woodcutting. I was cutting teaks on Ape Atoll. It took (not literally) forever because I kept falling asleep. You know, you'll be clicking away and the eyes drift down to halfmast, then you jolt upright and shake off the sleepy. I had things going to keep me awake - a new webcomic's 7 year archives to read and the radio - and I still fell to "kitten naps" (like cat naps but only lasting 5 seconds). It's aggravating because fishing is just as "boring" as woodcutting, yet I love to fish and managed to get 99 in that with waking up on my keyboard. Since I do find it uninteresting, I make a goal of 200k exp (or close to it) each day. I'm probably going to go with maples from here to 99.

While I've been slagging away at tree chopping, I hear people talking about how there's no Sara brews and ranging pots. Bad news if you want them, but great news for us who make them! I made 111 4 dose brews today, put them on the GE at max price (around 4800-5k each) and they were snapped up instantly! The range pots are dependent on my kingdom collection and that's only once every 10 days or so. I only have Sara brews because I've got 7700+ toadflax seeds waiting to be planted.

Photobucket

One more level until I can craft everything in RS! It's a fantastic feeling that and I love it. :) If only making furies was worth the price of the onyx gem. Last I checked, the gem sold for just under 4M and a fury went for 2.7M.

When I get 95 woodcutting tomorrow, maybe I'll leave off and do something else. I was tinkering with the idea of getting hunter up to 76 (only 25k exp to go) last night. I'd like to level up summoning too, which means more slayer and more combat.

I tried out the Surok Escapes mini quest thing, too. And yes, I, like thousands of other players, thought it was a quest. I ended up getting poisoned by jellies and dying to Zammy hoardes. I lost nothing since I went in naked. :P That's as far as that will get. It's not my cup of tea, even with the nice charm drop (7 red, 5 blue, 2 green) from the boss.

Well fuck.

Angel Eyes

Post title in memory of Jeff Healey, who died Sunday from cancer. You will be missed.

Mostly just piddled around with farming and woodcutting. Is there a school break somewhere? The Catherby yews were again swamped as though the summer had snuck upon me. I felt like I was in F2P *shudder*. My brain is calm as long as I keep my willow cutting to the trees I farm. Yews seem to be okay, but will take longer to get to 99. I'll try maples tomorrow and see if my head explodes after 8 hours. To 95: 3,683 yews or 6,444 maples; to 99: 28,042 yews or 49,073 maples.

One thing I like to do is come up with nicely put together outfits, stylish and chic if you will. I took a screenie of my best white elegant outfit (replace the dragon axe with black flowers). I did accents in black to balance out the white of the scarf and cape. I did try out several gloves and didn't find any to my liking. White gloves were too much white and gloves of silence just didn't match the other blacks, so I went with my bare hands. I met someone also wearing white elegant, but who decided going all white with a firemaking skill cape was the way.

I tried out magic dart on blue dragons. It's a very nice spell and seems to cast faster than the others. I bought Ahrim's set for the best magic attack bonus and only failed hitting with 3 spells. I fixed the Ahrim's, boxed it up and put it up for sale again.

Strawberry Fields Forever

A slow day today. I grew strawberries, toadflax and willow trees. I did woodcut while waiting for crops to grow. I felt a lot better about it, probably because I took a break yesterday. The Catherby yews and willows were totally swamped! The yews had at least 6 people and the willows had 3 people cutting at all times! So crazy.

I've got about 300 strawberries now and 60+ seeds left to plant. Toadflax was great! The lowest harvest I got was 9. Sara brews are going up in price (3800 atm), so I'm trying to work herblore back in by having Miscellania get maples and herbs this month.

Rebel, Rebel

Looking at the high scores for March, I've really come a long way! I still feel like an average player. It's cool though to see this and remember how it was when I first started. Those days when 55 mining, 70 woodcutting, 44 runecrafting and 76 fishing were the big money skills and you were so cool and uber to have them. Hard to believe I'm still high up in thieving ranks since I barely train it except to klepto the gem stall in Ardy or mug a guard in Fally so I can buy baskets. :P

I may be a bit weird here on how I start off my gaming day. I check my notes (yes, I have a notebook) on what I wanted to do today or what I was doing last night. I saw that I'd jotted down exp for teak logs and figured out how long it would take to get 200k exp today by cutting those instead of willows. 2.8011203 shown from my calculator screen and my brain rebelled.

"If you power cut willows today, I'm going to ooze out of your ear and beat you to death with a spoon," my brain rudely informed me. "Better yet, don't woodcut at all today."

"What about the willows I have planted in the farming patches?"

"You can cut those down, but nothing else. Go do something constructive like glassblowing."

Listen to your brain. Death by spoon is not pretty.

So, yeah, I made glass and blew 1200 vials. I managed to buy a steam battlestaff! I broke it in by casting Humidify and filling the vials. Before I forget again, I bought full white elegant. I wore it for a while, then stuffed it in the TT chest in my costume room. It goes in under Black Elegant which is weird. Now I wonder if you can have black and white elegant stored in a TT chest. I also bought a gnome scarf to go with it.

My raven grew up on the weekend. I immediately placed it in the bank, one space away from Slash, the wily hellcat, with the second raven egg keeping them apart.
Photobucket
Sadly, you can't have 2 ravens at once. I'll assume this is the same for the other pets (except for cats; why? o_O).
Photobucket

I'm thinking of making a crapload of minds and deaths and trying out Magic Dart/Slayer Dart. No, I've never used it before. I bought regular essence for the mind runes. I need to train magic anyway. Oh, I almost forgot this:
