For Kayla

I've reached a tough decision after stewing over it these past few days.

I'm stopping this blog.

Why, you ask? (I know, you didn't ask why, but just pretend you did, mkay?) Because of a little Jayhawker spammer named Kayla, or Cougarsrule9 as you may know her on RuneScape.

We used to be friends, but had a falling out months ago. She asked me to stop commenting on her blog and I did so, then asked her to provide me the same courtesy which she did ...for a while. It took me some weeks to catch on that she was commenting on this blog under the pseudonym "person". This is my fault as I'm not used to reading HaloScan and figuring out how to do a reverse look up based on an ISP. Eventually, I did and banned her, but she had a friend, "Kayla" from Canada comment for her. I banned that ISP, too. This morning I checked on HaloScan and noticed a now familiar ISP from Kansas from someone claiming they found my blog through Sal's. That got a dynamic ISP ban, but will it work? When will Kayla find a workaround the ban system to post more comments?

I'm not going to wait and find out.

Please take the time to thank Kayla, Cougarsrule9 in RuneScape and Kuemperfan4lyfe (excuse me while I puke) on Sal's Realm of RuneScape, for putting a stop to this blog.

Really, do it. I'm sure she'd love to get the PMs on Sal's or comments on her blog there.

Decisions

I went back to slayer this morning and found 149 warped tortoises waiting for me. *shakes fist* Duradel!! After exchanging them for 29 wolves, Duradel assigned me a favorite: gargoyles. I know they are a pain to kill, but there's something so satisfying about smashing an animated stone to rubble that brings me joy. While there, I got a semi unexpected 87 attack. I knew it was coming, but forgot to watch my progress and when the announcement appeared, I fumbled for the PRNT SCRN button.



I took time off RS to help hubby pick out a new 8800 graphics card and flatscreen monitor for his computer. Well, I certainly wasn't missing those crappy assignments I hate, like dragons of all colors and terror dogs. :P I found time to farm up a lot of herbs and some watermelons. I'm over 500 melons short of payment for my 112 pineapple plants. The curry trees are down to only 17 left. I'm getting a little sick of them now.

My last slayer mission for today was an odd yet welcome one - 162 fire giants. I don't normally go looking to kill fire giants since I do it in the smokey well. I'd switched my attack style to strength and they were totally kicking my ass. I checked up on the defense bonuses of the armor I wore and it was middle of the road. There are many armors out that beat the dragon chain; I may has well have stuck with rune plate+d skirt combo for all the protection the chain gives. So I sold it for 10.3M tonight. I lost some money, but not as much as I'd thought. With much dithering, I bought an almost full set of Torags - helm, body and legs - and an uncut onyx gem to make into a fury amulet.

I'm still feeling weird about owning and using a set of Barrows armor because they require constant repair. I just feel as though I'm throwing away money. :/ The body and helm I bought at (0) condition and fixed them at my PoH for about 90k. The legs I bought at full repair. God I am so cheap and it's just a bloody game! Here's me in my best defense armor - quake in your boots! XD

Lazy Sunday

Another day off from serious training. I had leftover cleaning to do and needed some unicorn horns (or uni horns as my notes say) for herblore. I armored up and headed to Lumbridge to slaughter 50 head of cattle. To my surprise, there was no one else at the cow pen north of the mill where the gnomecopters are located. Next, I went to the tower of life to kill unicows. There're some shows on tv I wanted to watch, so I'm chain farming with semi valuable herbs - avantoe, kwuarm and irit; I login, pick and plant new herbs and move on to the next plot.

In Catherby, I saw Marlaine who I think is from Marlaine's Musings. I took a picture and put it in my famous person file. :D

The good, the bad and the stupid

Friday was horrible concerning slayer. I spent more time searching and hopping for a semi empty world than actually killing anything.

Today began much better with 2 levels. I wanted to get my slayer screenie at the jade vine, so I took a small task from Turael - dogs. I usually kill the guard dogs in Ardy, so it was convenient. :D




I took today off to shovel out some of the accumulated crap from my bank vault. I did a clue and sold the rewards, made potions from the spectre herbs, created pouches out of all the charms and hi alched staffs and pouches. I tried out the war tortoise with enchanting orbs, forgetting I wouldn't have any room to take his load. :P Oh and you can't take pouches or scrolls (and I assume creatures) to Entrana. There's a funny scene over it, so give it a try if you want a laugh. I decided to try to tortoise out with runecrafting through the Abyss. Only abyssal creatures can carry essence. Grr



Until I get 71 summon, making barker toad pouches give the most exp for gold charms. The war tortoise is great in that it only takes one shard. I've got 120 green charms still to use, but I want to be able to make bunyips. It all involves more slaying. I'll be happy to see 80 there and not ever train it again.

I made molten glass with lunar magic. After dividing my leftover crafting exp by how mouch exp orbs give for blowing, I went on to get 90 crafting. I can make everything now! Squeee!!!!1111!1



I used up all my cut gems making jewelry (and alching it :P), keeping some dueling rings and games necklaces for the teleports. On a whim, I made 156 diamond tipped addy bolts and enchanted them. I'm saving them in case I ever kill avansies or find some group thing going to God Wars.

While I was blowing orbs, there was a conversation around me. Gun Marine got asked about his name and he said that his friend named the account, but gave it to him because he liked it. o_O How many of us in the bank reported him for account sharing? I know I did.

Small progress

Though I killed a lot of slayer assignments, my experience only lowered 25k today. Wow there were many people across the servers ranging black dragons in Taverly. I hopped 10 worlds and did not find a one without 2 or more people already killing. I'm ranging black demons tonight and tomorrow because Duradel seems to think these are good for me. If I get them again after this current bunch, I'm going to try out melee using prayer.



I'm going to keep slaying until I reach level 80. I think it will take around 10 days, depending on the assignments. If I get more things like bloodvelds and infernal mages, it will be less than that.

While waiting for my seaweed to be stocked in Catherby, I checked up on the people I have on my ignore list. Would you believe they've been banned? I am so happy since the two biggest offenders were someone who enjoyed making sexual provocative statements (Lady Laurah) and a racist (Bc Sandman). I also checked up on former friends and noted their stats haven't changed much.

As a warning, I'm looking at some Blogger beta things which means the site may look different. One thing that is really interesting me is a blog list that shows in a rollover when the blog was last updated. Some of my blogs are no longer valid links (the Sal's ones), so I will be removing those.

Coquinkydink, I think not

I was totally in slayer mode today and it shows. I was also very lucky with great drops, especially aberrant spectres which gave me 30 ranarr weed, 3 lava battlestaves and a rune full helm. w00t! Most of the assignments were in the slayer tower, too. I did Burthorpe 2 assignments - hell hounds and black demons - because I didn't want to fight over hounds and ranging demons takes a lot longer than you'd think. While I was at the slayer tower, a weird thing happened when I picked up the loot from a kill. Occasionally, one infernal mage or bloodveld or aberrant spectre will fight you and die on top of a skeleton which sits against a wall. When I would walk over to get the drops, I'd get the picture below and, well, head at crotch level; you be the judge:



I ran into an asshat while killing bloodvelds. For once, I was alone with all those headless, demonic piggies and I rejoiced. :) Someone walked up to me and stood there as I killed a bloodveld. After you play RS (or any game) for a time, you can tell by the body movements what another person is doing, whether they're wanting to trade or have latched onto you. The guy is just standing there and I think to myself that he's working up a question. I guess he was looking me up on the high scores. I had a plan worked out if he started trailing after me - dodge into the aberrant spectre room. We had the following conversation:



It's annoying when some stranger comes up and tells you how to build your character. It down-right pisses me off when they do that and immediately log off. It's not like I was hogging all the piggies or deliberately kill stealing them either. All I can say is that's it's good that I'm not on Ventrilo or MSN or any other kind of com chat because people would've gotten a mouthful of me going off on this dweeb. I'm almost to the point of turning my public chat back to friends. I wish these idiots would do something with that lump between their ears other than using it as a hat rack.

I got about half a slayer level (under 97k to 79) and most of an attack level (24k to 86). I'll see how it goes tomorrow as to whether I'll push through to 80. I've been putting all my genie lamps into hunter.

Avril d'abord

A new month means a new high scores picture. Between you and me (and the other 10 people reading this), every time I see my strength and attack ranks, I feel very n00by. You wouldn't think so since they're in the mid 80s, but those 2 skills are my lowest ranked skills. So either I am a skiller at heart (guilty) or 145,000 other people are more focused on killing things. I don't mind killing things. I just prefer to kill on my terms, which is probably why slayer is such a drag (and the fact that the exp per monster isn't impacting level gainage as much as it used to). I've been looking into methods of melee training, such as Ape Atoll monkey guards and bandit camp.

Most of today was taken up my laundry. I did enchant over 700 air orbs and managed a slayer task of 185 kalphite. I tried killing kalphite soldiers after reading up on what I should take, but their drops weren't as charm heavy as their wimpy counterparts, the workers. I had to hop 4 times to get a world with only a couple people in the caves. I got it done, then went to Ardougne and killed my wild jade vine. Boy, that fight was a loss. I couldn't hit often or hard, even after using the d axe special (lowers defense), and ended the battle with 10 prayer points left. 8-O Only 135 wild jade vines to kill until level 80 slayer. :P

I also cleaned out my kingdom coffers today. I had them gathering 100% herbs and 50% coal (for all that mithril ore I bought). I've only been making potions that I keep, such as prayer, super energy, super anti poison and antifire, though I do make range pots to sell. I sell off clean tarromin, harralander, kwuarm and cadantine. I don't have much luck selling the seeds I get, so I'm putting them in the party chest. The pots I made got me down to 41k exp to 84 herblore. Not much to get excited about except for being another level closer to a pretty skillcape. :D

For the curious, I did some woodcutting testing on yew and magic trees. Guess what? I don't cut them any faster with 99/100 woodcutting than I did at 90. I'd say that there's no need to get woodcutting higher than, say 85, unless you really love the skill or you really want the cape.

What else did I do? Oh I checked out the Dorgeshuun chests for charms. I only got 3 - 2 gold and 1 green - after an hour of schlepping in a circle around the second floor of the city. It seems to be luck, so I wouldn't rely on it as a sole source of charms. I did get 5 bull's-eye lanterns and 1 oil lantern which all have oil in them and put them up for sale on the GE.
